While the 300-room Hotel Arizona has had plenty of success supporting the center over the years, a new 700-room property will really add to the city’s ability to bring in larger groups, especially as it moves forward with plans for a convention center expansion and new arena. According to the CVB, bids include those from Sheraton, Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton, and a decision is anticipated by the end of the year. We will be sure to let you know as soon as it happens! Exciting New Plans for Tucson!
Posted by Hunter Holcombe, Managing Editor on Wednesday, 07 November 2007
Three days in Tucson last week reminded me that perfect winter weather in the desert is only a quick three-hour escape from the fog of San Francisco. While it was great to see how popular the new JW Marriot Starr Pass Resort has become since opening in 2005, and to learn about the new renovations coming along at Westward Look Resort and Omni Tucson National Resort, the most exciting news came from Toby Parks of the Tucson CVB, who told me about several bids submitted for a major hotel that will go in next to the convention center downtown.
