Orlando is the big kid on the block for Florida meetings with the most meeting space in the state, while three Sunshine State destinations in the north offer small- and medium-size meetings a taste of history and nature in a relaxed setting. St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and The Beaches combine the country’s oldest city, golf and Atlantic beaches. Tallahassee, Florida’s capital, is a mecca for nature lovers, surrounded by natural attractions such as freshwater springs, a wildlife refuge and arched trees over canopy roads. On Florida’s Panhandle, the emerald waters and white-sand beaches of Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island nurture conferences in a laid-back atmosphere.

Given that it’s home to both University of Florida and Santa Fe College, it stands to reason that Gainesville has all the fun and energy of a great college town. With a comfortably warm-and-warmer climate, this part of Florida may be landlocked, but it’s far from dull.

And it’s got a lot more going for it than campus fun. A renowned and thriving music scene has produced such talents as the Eagles, Steven Stills, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Sister Hazel. Each year, in conjunction with Santa Fe College, the city hosts the Spring Arts Festival, showcasing local art and music and drawing crowds from all over the state.

A slew of outdoor attractions beckons as well: The Kanapah Botanical Gardens contains Florida’s biggest bamboo garden and the largest herb garden in the Southeast. Visit the Gainesville Raceway for a day of heart-racing high-speed fun. The Santa Fe Teaching Zoo—a great spot for group outings or after-hours jaunts—houses more than 200 different kinds of animals and runs the only zookeeper training program in the United States.

Airport convenience, pleasant temperatures, activity options galore … there’s a lot to gain from gathering here for your next big event.
