Destination Description
Dappled with a natural volcanic rock formation in the Sierra Madre del Sur, Michoacán is a region that really relies on its natural attractions. The Cupatitzio Canyon and Jose Maria Morelos national parks are both located in the area and are wonderful places for camping, eco-tourism outings or even extreme sports. A favorite visitor attraction is the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Nestled in a fir forest, thousands of monarch butterflies flock to the trees to nest, reproduce and nest again.
The Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, warrants a huge celebration in these parts, showcasing the cultural significance of the event, and really crafting a one of a kind experience and celebration.
