Travel + Leisure Names Worst U.S. Airports

Review website Skytrax recently gave out its awards for the world’s best airports, but what about the other end of the spectrum? Travel + Leisure has taken up the issue and identified which airports travelers should avoid if at all possible. In an inaugural survey, the magazine asked readers to rate 22 major U.S. airports in such categories as flight delays, amenities, check-in and location. The results placed LaGuardia Airport in New York City at the bottom of the heap, followed by Los Angeles International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport. The New York area faired particularly poorly, with Newark Liberty International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport both making the worst list. As for the best airports, readers named Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport No. 1. Skytrax’s pick for the best airport in the United States, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, was not part of Travel + Leisure’s survey. travelandleisure.com
