What's Distinctive?
History

The Bancroft Hotel building was constructed in 1928 as a private clubhouse by the College Women's Club, a group of Panhellenic women. Inspired by California's Mediterranean climate and vast landscape, noted Bay Area architect Walter T. Steilberg, an associate of Julia Morgan, created a distinguished example of the area's internationally known Arts and Crafts movement.
