InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown

Mountain Shadows, sitting below Camelback Mountain in the heart of serene Paradise Valley near Scottsdale, Arizona, opened this year. It’s a luxurious resort featuring sleek furniture, industrial light fixtures, geometric decor and local artwork. The property has 183 modern guest rooms, 25,000 sq. ft. of scenic outdoor meeting space and 12,500 sq. ft. of indoor space.

One of the top additions to the Lake Tahoe region is The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe, which opened in June. A member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle Collection, the Nevada property features 154 guest rooms, three restaurants and 3,200 sq. ft. of meeting space. But for golfers, the main feature is the George Fazio-designed golf course, which was named one of America’s Top Golf Courses by Golf Digest.

A nongaming, full-service property, Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel, opened in April at the site of the former Sienna Hotel Casino in downtown Reno, Nevada. It features fully renovated bars, a restaurant, a recreation area, 214 guest rooms—28 of which are suites—and 13,198 sq. ft. of meeting space. The 22,000 sq. ft. of former casino space was converted into Bundox Bocce, a restaurant, bar and game area with seven indoor bocce courts, shuffleboard tables, skee-ball alleys and two 50-foot projection screens.

Located in The Mark tower downtown, SLS Seattle, slated to open this summer, will showcase 189 guest rooms including 31 suites, a 16th-floor cocktail lounge and culinary experience, more than 21,000 sq. ft. of conference and private event space, and state-of-the-art Ciel Spa and fitness facilities.

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, California

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in California, which opened in June, offers floor-to-ceiling view windows and a private balcony from each of its 170 guest rooms. French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon—who worked on updates to landmark hotels such as Four Seasons George V in Paris and Savoy Hotel in London—designed the rooms, which he says offer “soothing tones of celadon, taupe and white, accented by spectacular pieces of bespoke art.” The hotel’s rooftop lounge deck provides panoramic views of Beverly Hills and Hollywood.

Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown, which opened in April, is near many top entertainment, dining and shopping options, including the L.A. Live complex and Staples Center. A touchscreen neighborhood guide in the lobby enables guests to discover local hot spots and upcoming events.

The 350-room property offers 21,483 sq. ft. of meeting space and features decor with floral accents reminiscent of La Fiesta de las Flores, an event that has showcased the city’s international melting pot since 1894.

InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, scheduled to open this summer, will provide 889 guest rooms, world-class dining and an impressive 73rd-floor Sky Deck Bar—the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere, with 360-degree views of the city and the Pacific Ocean. The hotel will also house 94,977 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including an elegant 21,379-square-foot grand ballroom and a signature Club InterContinental Lounge. The property will be the first in downtown Los Angeles that is LEED Gold-certified for Building Design and Construction.
