Development is erupting in Orlando, as Universal Orlando Resort is building a new water theme park experience called Volcano Bay. The ambitious project will be Universal Orlando Resort’s third park, complementing Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It will be located within Universal Orlando Resort, just south of the new Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Work has begun on the project, which is expected to be completed in 2017.
Universal’s Volcano Bay will be immersive, family-friendly and is being designed to re-imagine a traditional water park. It will feature thrilling attractions, as well as peaceful relaxation. The water park will be set in a highly themed, tropical island environment.
The development of Universal’s Volcano Bay follows a series of creative experiences that have opened over the past few years at Universal Orlando. This includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, which opened in 2010, as well as Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, and eight new venues at Universal CityWalk. Skull Island: Reign of Kong and Loews Sapphire Falls Resort are on track to open in 2016.
Universal Orlando Resort is a popular meeting place, featuring four themed onsite hotels and a variety of indoor and outdoor venues that can accommodate groups ranging in size from 20 to 20,000. Planners can take advantage of many entertainment options and award-winning catering. To learn more about scheduling meetings or special events at Universal Orlando, visit www.uomeetingsandevents.com.
