Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is expanding its Southern California footprint with the addition Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, California. The property, located near the iconic Huntington Beach Pier, was acquired by DiamondRock Hospitality, which named Kimpton as the new hotel operator. This is Kimpton’s eighth property in Southern California and its first in Orange County. Kimpton has 64 hotels and over 70 restaurants, bars and lounges nationwide.
Located within The Strand, a mixed use commercial development on 6th Street and Pacific Coast Highway, the Shorebreak features 157 guest rooms, waterfront views, 3,920 sq. ft. of meeting space and a fitness center. Shorebreak guests can also enjoy the full-service restaurant, Zimzala, with indoor and outdoor terrace dining and live music twice a week. As a Kimpton, the hotel will now offer cruiser public bikes, in-room yoga mats, pet friendly policies and hosted evening wine hour.
“Shorebreak—with its unbeatable beachfront location—is the perfect opportunity for Kimpton to enter the booming Orange County market and expand even further into the leisure and resort sector where we’ve already shown great success in other Southern California cities such as Santa Barbara, Goleta and La Jolla,” said Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino. “We are also excited about this management contract because it is the first deal to be signed since our acquisition by IHG last month. With their backing, we are able to fulfill our dreams of accelerated and more strategic growth for the brand.”
