It seemed inevitable that Smart Meetings and U2 lead singer Bono would hook up at some point—but it wasn’t clear until recently that Smart Meetings Event participants would benefit from the connection.
Each participant at Smart Meetings events in Seattle Feb. 23, Miami June 26–28 and Phoenix Sept. 11–13 will be given a pair of Revo sunglasses. For each pair given out, Revo, the leader in polarized lens technology, will make a $10 contribution to the initiative, “Buy Vision, Give Sight,” which aims to prevent vision impairment and blindness in more than 5 million people by 2020.
Revo already has contributed $10 million to help achieve the initiative’s goal: to improve access to eye screening, prescription glasses and eye care in under-resourced communities around the world. Bono, who suffers from glaucoma, recently established a partnership with Revo to implement the initiative, which will benefit Brien Holden Vision Institute, a charity that he sponsors.
Wet Paint Creative Group, a Denver-based company that specializes in amenity experiences for corporate and high-value meetings and events, is collaborating with Revo to offer the sunglasses to agency partners, event planners and corporations hosting sales, incentive and client events.
“Meeting planners and agencies have long been asking for fresh, meaningful products for their events,” says Doug Chorpenning, CEO and founder of Wet Paint. “Our partnership with Revo means we can deliver more than a great pair of sunglasses. With Revo, we are also able to combine a remarkable product experience with a strong corporate and social responsibility message. It’s a win-win for everyone involved—from the host companies to the planners, to the attendees.”
