Partnering with destinations to put sustainability front-and-center is the best way to ensure an event that cares for attendees and planet. A joint Smart Meetings/Destinations International White Paper “Year of the Sustainable RFP” uncovers how meeting professionals are prioritizing everything from energy efficiency to waste management in the sourcing process.

You will learn:

  • What to ask for when considering a destination/venue.
  • What measures actually have the biggest impact.
  • How to craft win-win events that leave a place better than when your group arrived.

Emily Scheiderer is a hospitality enthusiast with a background that includes both DMO and hotel experience. Emily’s passion for inclusivity has driven her to make meaningful connections both in and out of the industry that have included a two-year commitment to the ISAE Government Affairs committee and serving as an ambassador for the American Cancer Society’s ResearcHERS campaign. As a self-described “data nerd”, she enjoys any opportunity to expand her mind and learn.

During her two decades of experience in the Central Florida hospitality/tourism arena, Michelle has established a reputation as a reliable and creative “Go-Getter” with a consistent track record of delivering business growth. Since joining Experience Kissimmee seven years ago, Michelle has displayed her sales and marketing expertise, as evidenced when leading efforts to increase meetings sales by 42% and accelerate contracted room nights 96%. With a genuine passion for leading sales teams, representing hospitality brands, and promoting Kissimmee as a top meetings destination, Michelle continues to go above and beyond to meet the needs of meeting planners and organizations. Anyone who is looking to learn interesting new tidbits about this area should refer to Michelle, as she is known as the “Central Florida Fun Fact Aficionado.”

Notably, Michelle holds a B.S. in Business Administration & Marketing as well as multiple industry certifications, including CDME (Certified Destination Management Executive), CMP (Certified Meeting Professional), CHIA (Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics), and HMCC (Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate). Additionally, Michelle is a current member of PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association, Southeast Chapter), MPI (Meeting Professionals International), and CFHLA (Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association).

Michelle places a great deal of her time and commitment in supporting the ventures of Experience Kissimmee, but at the very top of her life’s priorities are her family, friends, and laughter! Michelle maximizes her downtime with many outdoor activities along with her husband, three daughters, and two ex-racing greyhounds.

Rory G. Archibald is Senior Business Events Manager in charge of Strategy, Marketing, PR, Associations and Sectors with Visit Scotland.
